If so, this class is perfect for you. This class will look at the upcoming year and plan ahead as you work through different songs and scenes to get an early start of doing audition prep. This class will be tailored to help the student who is completely new to theatre and needs guidance on where to start, but those more seasoned students can benefit from this one-on-one training to fine-tune their audition materials. This class will meet once a week in the early afternoon and we will offer an option for younger students and one for teens.
ADVANCED ACTING
HIGH SCHOOL (Middle school placement by Acting Director)
$100/month
Wednesdays 4:00-5:30 p.m.
(Additional Fall rehearsals/classes added to prepare for the Fall One Act Production)
Instructor: Bryan Blanks
A wide breadth of acting techniques will be explored using a hands-on approach with this class. This Fall, we will present a One Act Drama titled, "I Was There" (powerful testimony of students who were impacted by a school shooting.) We will also produce a One Act Comedy titled, "Stage Parents" (a play process that goes wrong and parents enter the scene trying to take over.) Students will also learn improvisation techniques that can be useful for the stage actor. Students will be required to engage in a number of exercises and activities that help the actors be comfortable developing characters and making acting choices in the moment. A lot of our work will be using improvisation as a tool to become a better actor, however we will engage in improvisation activities for entertainment purposes as well.
