ADVANCED ACTING
HIGH SCHOOL (Middle school placement by Acting Director)
$100/month
Wednesdays 4:00-5:30 p.m.
(Additional Fall rehearsals/classes added to prepare for the Fall One Act Production)
Instructor: Bryan Blanks
A wide breadth of acting techniques will be explored using a hands-on approach with this class. This Fall, we will present a One Act Drama titled, "I Was There" (powerful testimony of students who were impacted by a school shooting.) We will also produce a One Act Comedy titled, "Stage Parents" (a play process that goes wrong and parents enter the scene trying to take over.) Students will also learn improvisation techniques that can be useful for the stage actor. Students will be required to engage in a number of exercises and activities that help the actors be comfortable developing characters and making acting choices in the moment. A lot of our work will be using improvisation as a tool to become a better actor, however we will engage in improvisation activities for entertainment purposes as well.
THE CLASS THAT BROUGHT YOU JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH AND SHREK. This year, a coat of many colors will hit the Peoria Players Stage. This year the first few classes in October will be helping students prepare for auditions. This show was written for young performers and will be the perfect fit for this year’s class. There are so many great roles to give students a great opportunity on stage. The Title Role and some other characters may be portrayed by one of our more seasoned High School Performers who will serve as assistant directors and assistant choreographers for the show as well. All students registered for the class will be cast in the show.
