In rehearsals we often spend a lot of time learning dances, music and adjusting to our stage and set design. This class will focus on the actor. There are not many non-musical acting opportunities for young adults in the Peoria area. This class is perfect for young adults who want to learn various techniques that will help them with cold reading, character development, ensemble acting and more. Students will work on partner scenes and monologues which are great for future college theatre admission and scholarship auditions.
ADVANCED ACTING
HIGH SCHOOL (placement by Acting Director)
MONDAYS 6:15pm - 7:45pm
$100/month
Instructor: Bryan Blanks
In addition to work done in our Intermediate class, our Advanced students will be a part of an Improve Troupe! Our Actin’ Up troupe will learn improvisation techniques that can be useful for the stage actor. Students will be required to engage in a number of exercises and activities that help the actors be comfortable developing characters and making acting choices in the moment. A lot of our work will be using improvisation as a tool to become a better actor, however we will engage in improvisation activities for entertainment purposes as well. Our improvisation troupe will perform at various events in the community. Many of the performance activities can be compared to scenes from “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” .
